Is 2000 dollars down to much to put down on a car?

So I went to see if I could finance a car. My credit score is not that good. He said the only way the lender can finance me is if I put 2000 dollars down. I am wondering if it is too much? It is a 05 scion tc with 68000 miles on it. Is it too much?
