Where did you get your ears pierced?

I want to get my ears pierced, but unsure of where to go. I'm not quite sure if I want to go to a tattoo parlor--where I live, those are pretty shady, although I hear the needle is the way to do it. My cousin highly recommended Merle Norman. And is Claire's really that bad?
