If all my righteousness is as filthy rags.....?

before the Lord (Isaiah ch.64) and I am unable to justify myself before the Lord by my works (Romans Ch.3 V20) how do I make myself right before the Lord so I can go to heaven? The Bible mentions Abraham who was a man loaded with good works and he had plenty to boast about but not before God as the Lord will not credit any one with salvation in exchange for good works. What are we to do when so many people think that their works will save them??
