FW Angelfish Uh-O! I've had a pair of angels now for about 5 yrs, I bought about 10 of them and let them pair.

Well I thought they were a mating pair. I have seen the female lay eggs and the male fertlize several times in the past. Never had any babys to hatch though. I thought it was b/c of my other things in the tank, b/c the angels would usually eat their eggs before they could hatch. I finally got their tank setup for just them within the past 6-8 months. I noticed my female whippin up on the male. So I figured in a few days they would have eggs, well I was right I caught my female in action laying. So I begin to watch so I could get pics and all. As I watched my female kept being really mean to my male by clamping on his lips with hers and thrashing him around. Then I seen the male go to the eggs and what I thought was fertlize- A egg popped out, and all hell broke loose on him. My female startin beating the crap out of him again. What has caused this confusion? and does this mean that my thought to be male is female. Could it have been something besides an egg? Thanks!
